Matt's First 2009 Win Feb 22 vs Creighton

Matt was called in to close with one out, two men on in the top of the 9th today, with SHSU up 4-3, making it a save situation. However, one of the runs that was already on base scored when the ball rolled under the shortstops glove so now they were tied in the bottom of the 9th, with Matt pitching through the 11th, giving up a run and having two Ks. In the bottom of the 11th, his team came through though and scored two runs giving him his first win of the season. Him being a closer is not great on my stomach! Good weekend for Baseball!

SHSU hosted Creighton University for the opening season series. Matt was called in to close out the first game of the season and only faced four batters to get the save, giving up one walk. They have swept the series so far, 3 games and will play the final game today, with possibly Matt closing again.

Butler University swept their series at home against Ellsworth, Nate only warmed up because they were able to shut down the game.

The season begins...

We got to see Nate pitch on Friday, Feb 13th in Tishamingo, OK at Murray State. It was fun to see him in his purple and gray uniform. He is really doing great.

We attended Matt's opening banquet last weekend. His season opens on the 20th against Creighton. Looks like we will be putting lots of miles on our car this spring to watch baseball.

Sam Houston Ring and Nate Pitching

Here is a picture of the ring Matt received last month for the team winning their conference tournament. He is really proud of it.

If you click here - http://picasaweb.google.com/345baseball/NateAtButlerJrCollege#slideshow, you can see a slideshow of Nate pitching in Kansas at his field in October when we went to visit. Both boys schedules are out and I will post them soon.

Not much new

I am sorry I don't have more pictures to share. We haven't visited either one of the boys yet. We go down on Oct 11 for Matt's intersquad game. He seems to be doing well, he is loving is his accounting class, which is good since that is his major. Nate is really doing well. He is pitching well and doing well in his classes. He loves it there..I am so glad God had the perfect plan for him. He has lots of friends and likes his teammates. We will visit him some time in October, but we won't get to see a game I am afraid. Thanksgiving will be so precious to have them all under one roof again.

Nate is in Kansas

We took Nate to El Dorado, Kansas on Friday, August 15th and moved him into the dorm on the next day. It is a small town outside Wichita, about 25 miles away, so he can get to a mall if he needs to. He likes the small town. Everything is so pretty and green there. We decorated his room in his Texas stuff, thank you mom for getting some of the stuff. He is very proud of his room and even two of the players who are from Brooklyn, wanted their picture taken with his cowboy hat and the flag behind them! Here is his room. And yes, I cried.

He likes his classes and his teammates. We are so glad God had the perfect plan for him. All of the pictures we took at his going away party are going to be uploaded to Ricks photo site, http://http://picasaweb.google.com/345baseball so you can download and print the ones you want. They are really cute. Here are just a few below. Matt left on Tuesday for his apartment at Sam Houston. We have company this week but next week, our house will be so quiet!
